Many clients who have outsourced, think of the time when an outsourcing contract reaches its expiration date as ‘end of term,’ and justifiably so. However, they rarely simply ‘end’ the outsourcing contract, but rather investigate several options such as restructuring the contract with the current provider, taking it to open market competition, sole sourcing directly with another provider, or bringing some or all of the scope in-house.

The ‘end of term’ represents a significant milestone for which the next outsourcing strategy must be developed. The outsourcing strategy must apply the lessons learned from the current outsourcing contract and relationship, and position the client to achieve its future business objectives.
